Overview

Buddha (Siddhartha Gautama), the founder of Buddhism, was a wealthy prince who, upon witnessing the suffering of humanity, left his palace to seek truth and ultimately attain enlightenment (becoming Buddha). His reason for abandoning his princely status was his search for a solution to the suffering of aging, illness, and death—the realities of earthly life.

When Kamma Himalayan Coffee approached us for concept branding of their top-quality coffees, we were inspired by this story, striving to reflect Buddha's journey and the Kamma philosophy in our branding efforts.

The Kamma Himalayan Coffee Series is designed as a visual and sensory journey where form meets craftsmanship and every detail guides you toward the summit of the Himalayas. Our branding embraces a design language that blends minimalism with warm, artisanal character. This reflects Kamma’s philosophy of offering genuine, high-quality coffee with clarity, honesty, and simplicity.

Inspired by the Buddha’s journey to find the meaning and philosophy of life, our packaging brand depicts the Danphe (Monal Bird), symbolic of the Himalayas, as a guiding light for the Buddha on his journey from the comfort of the temple to the Himalayas.

The whisper of brew is calling.

The color palette—refreshing navy blue, vibrant red, and modern gold—captures the brand’s innovative and creative spirit while preserving a timeless sense of elegance and depth. These colors symbolize transformation, sustainability, and the nature-driven values of the Himalayas, while also honoring the cultural identity of the Nepalese flag.

The graphic system is shaped by a minimalist, modern art-deco sensibility, inspired by clean lines and the way light moves across surfaces. In this narrative, the Monal bird—a symbol of the Himalayas—guides Buddha from the Temple to the mountains in search of meaning. These elegant graphic elements reflect both the brand’s aesthetic richness and its contemporary spirit.

More than an ordinary package, Kamma Himalayan Coffee’s design expresses a philosophical story. It introduces coffee lovers to the Kamma Philosophy through a style that is minimal, thoughtful, and deeply intentional.

The word kamma means “action” or “doing.” In Buddhist tradition, it refers to intentional mental, verbal, or physical acts that shape one’s character and future experiences. As the Buddha taught: “Intention is kamma, for having first intended, one acts with body, speech, or mind.

”Positive intentions generate positive outcomes; negative intentions lead to negative consequences — a moral law of cause and effect known as kamma-vipaka. In this doctrine, kamma influences not only one’s immediate experience but also future lives within the cycle of rebirth.
